Sonia and Tim….the wedding

This couple and their families are very dear to my heart.  Even though I only spent 3 days with them….because of their kindness and fun loving spirit…I feel like I’ve known them all for years.  I really wish the world could embrace combining cultures and diversities the way these two families have.  Every time I turned around all weekend…there were smiles and celebration!   Sonia and Tim thank you again for giving me the privilege of photographing your wedding.

Here the ladies started the morning getting ready and watching a SUPER fun wedding video!  I would share the link…but I’m saving this for my best friend Jenny’s wedding next fall!So funny…trying to figure this out!The shot above this was so cloudy from the hairspray…the shot below was actually shot through the window outside.  The ceremony and reception were held at the Masonic Temple.  This building looks huge from the outside…but let me tell you….it’s even BIGGER on the inside.  The elevator says it has “3″ floors…it’s a liar…it’s like 6 or 8!!!  You can seriously shoot in just about any room in this gorgeous venue. I don’t think Tim can take a bad photo! And Sonia…well..it’s obvious in these photos how gorgeous she is.  But once you get to know her…she’s a beautiful person on the inside too.  So many amazing traditions!Hiding the groom before the bride enters…We didn’t set this up…Andy or Claire caught this right after the ceremony!  I love real moments!I love this series!  This is so them! Just as smiley and sweet in person!Duffy from Party Pleasers did such a wonderful job as the DJ.  His timing with confetti at the end of the night was PERFECTION!!!!!

A little behind the scenes photo here.  I had to squeeze and lean back so much to use the lens I wanted and get the crop I wanted…so I asked my husband Andy to come and hold me up.  He is grinning here because he knows Claire is taking our picture and that the rest of the wedding party can’t see him.  To play a joke on Claire..he continues to move his camera with the ZOOM lens…well it’s inappropriate to tell you here on the blog….so use your imagination:)

Sonia and Tim…part 1

I will blog part two of this adorable couple and tell you more about them next week!  For now…enjoy some images from their Sangeet and pre-wedding day session!

Casey and Brian

I’ve known Casey now for quite a few years.  I even helped assist the photographer who photographed her senior pictures back in the day:) So I was delighted to photograph her wedding!   She and Brian are such a great couple and I couldn’t be happier for them!!!

We started at her parent’s house where the day began.
Lacing up those gowns is a lot of work!  Her mom and sister did a wonderful job!I absolutely love this candid moment of her and her grandmother!  Everyone should have a photo similar to this with their gmas and gpas!!!!Checking herself out in the mirror while Dad sneaks a peek!My competition at this wedding was fierce!!!!!   I tell ya they just start younger and younger these days!!!  LOLA handsome groom….

Don’t let the gorgeousness of this couple and their wedding party fool you….they were working it out for all the outdoor photos!  This wedding was Labor Day weekend and it was 96 degrees that day in Dayton!!!   THANK YOU all for working through the heat!  This sunflower field was our last stop and I am so excited about how these turned out!!!This little ring bearer was SO smitten on the flower girl all day!  He was like “what??  you want me to kiss her??”“no problem”  :)This is probably the most adorable grandfather on the planet!!!!   (I can say that as all of mine are in heaven)    Country girls really are the cutest!!!

Mini vacation at the beach + a wedding = a wonderful time!

A few weeks ago (okay almost two months ago) I shot a wedding on Saturday and by 4 am on a Sunday morning we were packed and on the road (Andy driving…Evie and I sleeping) to Sunset Beach for our cousin’s wedding and a little mini vacation at the beach!  Here is a visual of our destination! While driving through the mountains…sometimes you have to drive through a tunnel…which can be a little frightening.  So you just roll down your windows and honk your horn and laugh at the echo it makes OR take picture with the funky apps on your phone!I’d still prefer to drive through tunnels verses drive over bridges!!!!  (I have that dream often…that I either drive off a bridge or the bridge just ends…weird I know)

Our handsome chauffeur….12 hours later we arrived at our destination!  The next morning (before the wedding) we headed out to the beach for a few hours.   This is the boardwalk….and to the beach!  Evie loved every minute of the ocean and the sand!!!After a few hours we headed back to our room and got ready for the wedding.  Here is Evie knocking on Grandma & Grandpa Sommer’s room to see if they were ready.
Evie and GrandmaMy and my little peanut girl! What a beautiful ceremony!YAY!  We are MARRIED!!!
YUM!The Sommer cousin’s table! (we had to take this before Andy got there)This was my first attempt at photographing sparklers!  I’m so excited about how these turned out!  (especially since there wedding was on the 4th of July!!!)

Becky and Greg

I was so delighted to finally meet Becky and Greg in person a few weeks before their wedding to discus the details of their big day.  We had been emailing back and forth over the past 7 months and I always look forward to meeting my brides and grooms in person!  Becky and Greg seemed pretty relaxed with only a few weeks to go and their wedding was beautiful.  I was able to be in the waiting room with Becky as the guests took their seats and she was waiting to walk down the aisle.  I noticed her typing on her phone and I (half jokingly) asked her if she was updating her facebook status.   She said that she and Greg were texting back and forth about it’s “almost time” and how excited they were.  That melted my heart!  It’s sweet moments like that make me love what I do.    Here are my favorites from the day.  Congrats and Best wishes to such a lovely couple:)

Sarah & Joe + Cole

This family session is special to my heart because I grew up with Sarah.  I’m pretty sure we were in kindergarden together with Mrs. Post…..afternoon class at McKenny Harrison elementary school.   We became best friends in the 4th grade and did all the silly things little girlfriends did back in the 80’s.   Imagine Be Fri necklaces and homemade puffy paint t-shirts.  Do I even need to bring up “pegging” your acid washed jean cuffs??   Okay that’s probably enough visual fashion faux pas for you all to handle this friday morning:)   So…onto the family photos.

I think Cole is thinking here “I’m ready for my close up Miss Faye!”

“I don’t enjoy tummy time…but I’ll smile for the camera”

I just want to grab those adorable cheeks and give them a little squeeze!!!!!

Stephanie and Tom

I am so greatful for getting to be a photographer and the chance to meet new couples and families along the way.  Weddings are such amazing events to be a part of and Steph and Tom’s was just that.  I have to admit I was a bit more nervous with this wedding as Tom is a television director but also a photographer as well.  Stephanie kept me at ease with her laid back attitude she carried for most of the morning.   Here is how we started the day.  Aunt Stephanie getting her hair done with one of her beautiful nieces on her lap.  I think it was right around this moment when she looked at herself in the mirror and her excitement and nerves started to set in.  Something about getting that veil on makes it official!
Wedding dress time…
layers….layers….layers…layers  :)

So many sweet moments throughout the dayHere is the start of their first look before the ceremony.

I LOVE this bridal portrait of Steph!!!! Her eyes are so stunning they just draw you in!  love:)
Oh yeah….the groomsmen pulled off cool like it was their job!!!!line up please…..YAY!First dance…

Stephanie and Tom

Hello world!  Meet Tom and Stephanie!  They were sent my way from my friends at Nixon Photography (thanks Bob and Michelle) and for that I am truly greatful as they are one of the sweetest couples on the planet!  (okay that’s going a little overboard….but these two are pretty wonderful to hang out with)   Here in Dayton Oh, we’ve had the WETTEST spring in the HISTORY OF THE WORLD (okay again I’m going a little overboard…..but I think we’ve all had our fill of rain this April and May );)  So the Friday morning I set out to photograph Stephanie and Tom’s engagement session….it was cloudy and luckily we only got a tiny little mist during our adventure.  Where did we head on our adventure you might be wondering???   Well we started downtown and then to Eastwood park (where I had scouted the day before) and also happened to be where they had their first date….fabulous coincidence!   Then I suggested we try the USAFM…mostly because I didn’t think the clouds could hold themselves any longer and I’d been wanting to shoot there too…..BONUS….they informed me that’s where they spent their third date….PERFECT:)

Melissa & Jeff

Melissa and Jeff had their wedding a few weeks ago on a Thursday in Dayton Ohio.   This wedding was very small and intimate with just a handful of guests and it couldn’t have been more perfect.   We actually scheduled a lot of time to just do portraits of the Bride and Groom.  (I’m thinking I need to push for that more with my brides and grooms)   We went to a few different locations including  CADC (cannery art + design center) and Side Bar (formerly pacchia…where they had their first date)  I loved that this couple was up for anything!  I kept finding more and more amazing spots to shoot in (hence the parking ticket I received for going over the time I thought we’d be shooting….whoooops!;)

Again Best Wishes and Congrats to you M & J!   Thanks again for having me photograph in your special day!!!

Lila Grace

Meet sweet baby Lila!   I was thrilled when Lisa emailed me letting me know her and Eric were expecting in February!  I had the honor of photographing their beautiful wedding back in 2006.  I adore watching couples grow into families and being there to photograph it all along the way.   This adorable baby girl did amazingly well for her first close up shoot!   She’s truly just as sweet in person as she is in these photos.   The cradle shot is the same cradle that Lisa and her brother slept in as babies.  Lisa’s father made it many years ago!  Love that we included it in some photos.   Thanks again Lisa and Eric and congrats again to you and your special new blessing!!!
